UK Delays Probe Into Glushkov's Murder for No Apparent Reason - Russian Embassy

The United Kingdom is delaying and withholding information about the investigation into the death of Nikolai Glushkov, the former top manager of Russian flag carrier Aeroflot, for no discernible explanation, the Russian embassy in London said Tuesday.

LONDON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) The United Kingdom is delaying and withholding information about the investigation into the death of Nikolai Glushkov, the former top manager of Russian flag carrier Aeroflot, for no discernible explanation, the Russian embassy in London said Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, UK police said that a Volkswagen van was seen near Glushkovs residence a day before his murder. The investigators intend to find the car and the driver, who could possess useful information for the probe.

"The investigation is strangely being overly delayed for no apparent reason ... The UK authorities are not fulfilling their international obligations and do not provide Russia with any access to the materials of the investigation into the death of a citizen of our country, which is classified as murder here," the press officer told reporters.

Glushkov, who had been sentenced in absentia in Russia to eight years in prison on embezzlement charges, died in London in mid-March. Scotland Yard has called his death "mysterious." At the same time, the police said that Glushkov had been choked, and the incident was classified as murder. Russian investigators have opened their own probe into the case.
