RIGA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Large-scale international military exercises Anakonda-18 will be held in Latvia between November 7 and November 16, the country's Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Anakonda-18 is a tactical field exercise of the division level. Units of the armed forces of the United States, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, as well as countries participating in the NATO-Latvia combat group deployed in Latvia, plan to participate in them," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the task of the exercises is to work out the interaction between the elements of the NATO command and regional forces when performing tactical operations.
Over 500 foreign servicemen are expected to take part in the exercises, the ministry added.
Latvia became a member of the European Union and NATO in 2004.
