WHO Chief Says Risk of International Spread of Current Ebola Outbreak in DRC Low

The risk of the international spread of the current Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is low, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) The risk of the international spread of the current Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is low, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Tuesday.

"The risk of the international spread is now at low level," Adhanom said adding that the WHO was following the developments around the clock.

This is the tenth Ebola outbreak DRC has faced. Last week, a total of 44 Ebola cases have been reported in the North Kivu and Ituri provinces, including 17 confirmed and 27 probable.

The WHO is providing logistical and medical support, working with the DRC Ministry of Public Health and various non-governmental organizations to tackle the current outbreak.
