The Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation yesterday celebrated the 26th anniversary of its launch and the start of its journey of humanitarian giving, which saw the achievement of major accomplishments and the launch of projects and initiatives that reflect its belief that goodness must prevail for the UAE and its friends.

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 06th Aug, 2018) The Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation yesterday celebrated the 26th anniversary of its launch and the start of its journey of humanitarian giving, which saw the achievement of major accomplishments and the launch of projects and initiatives that reflect its belief that goodness must prevail for the UAE and its friends.

The Foundation has provided assistance in over 166 countries, valued at close to AED2 billion and in diverse sectors, most notably in health, education and humanitarian aid.

Since its launch in 1992 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Foundation’s accomplishments, projects and charity and humanitarian initiatives, both inside and outside the country, have manifested themselves in supporting goodness and giving out of a firm belief that people are the foundation of civilisation.

The Foundation seeks to deliver its Vision, Mission & Values by applying its scientific, professional, social and national role, both within the UAE and overseas, in harmony with the Abu Dhabi Plan 2030 and the UAE Policy for Foreign Assistance (2017 – 2021).

Hamad Salem bin Kardous Al Ameri, Director-General of the Foundation, said that celebrating the foundation’s anniversary highlights its desire to achieve its strategic priorities, through offering humanitarian and charity assistance to needy people and continuing its efforts to maintain the legacy of Sheikh Zayed and his generosity around the world, until the UAE, its leadership and people have become an example to be followed regionally and internationally.

He added that the Foundation will work for achieving its aspirations to further assist the needy and help people around the world. "We will open channels of communication with all humanitarian organisations, associations and institutions, both inside and outside the country, and create a network to unify our efforts, and keep pace with the technological developments witnessed by the country and benefit from them, as well as assess information, prepare plans and implement charity programmes and projects," he further added.

Al Ameri pointed out that the foundation plans to invite specialists, and anyone interested, to conduct advanced scientific research aimed at delivering humanitarian work programmes in line with the directives of the country’s leadership in order to maintain the UAE’s leading international reputation as a model of charity and humanitarian work.

The foundation’s work is not confined to specific countries and it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex.

Major achievements in Arab countries by the Foundation include, but not limited to, schools rehabilitation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (Palestine); Zayed Mother and Child Hospital (Yemen) ; Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Fum Zakeed, Tata District (Morocco); Sheikh Zayed library and Al-Manar University, Tripoli (Lebanon); Al-Maarouf Hospital (Comoros); and Zayed Institute for Teaching Arabic for non-native speakers (Egypt).

Its projects in Asia include the Vocational Training Center and Home for people with Special Needs (India); Re-building Hulu Mosque (Philippines); Zayed College for Computer Sciences in Chittagong (Bangladesh); Arabic Studies Center, Beijing (China); Zayed Mother and Child Hospital (Afghanistan), in addition to educational projects in Pakistan.
