Several injured as former KP CM's convoy attacked in Bannu

Bannu (Pakistan Point News – 13th July, 2018) At least three persons were injured while several others were injured as the convoy of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Akram Durrani was attacked in Bannu on Friday.

According to media reports, the bomb exploded in the convoy of former KP chief minister and Jamiat-e-Ulema islam leader Akram Durrani.

According to police sources, Akram Durrani was on his way to attend a public meeting when he was attacked with a bomb. Akram Durrani, however, remained safe in the attack.

According to eye witnesses, the suicide bomber was on a motorcycle.

The rescue teams left for the site of the blast upon receiving the information.

The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment. Some of the injured are said to be in a critical condition.

The threat still looms large over Peshawar as there have been several reports of a threat of further suicide attacks in the city.

According to a news report published in a local newspaper on Thursday, several political parties are facing threats of being targeting in their election campaigns.

The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had provided the details of nine political leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) facing threats of suicide attacks. In view of these terror threats, NACTA has informed the KP interior ministry, chief secretary and the political parties concerned.

Security has been beefed up in the province in view of these threats while political parties are also directed to make arrangements for their security.

At least 20 people were killed while over 60 others were injured as a suicide bomber blew himself up at an election rally of ANP at Yaka Toot area of the city.

The blast also claimed the life of Haroon Bilour, candidate of ANP for PK-78.

Following the attack, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed election on the provincial assembly seat PK-78.
