Renowned author Paulo Coelho extends good wishes to Malala
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 12th July, 2018) Nobel peace prize winner Malala Yousafzai is celebrating her 21st birthday today.
Earlier, Malala visited Brazil in her first tour Latin America, to kick off the expansion of her education charity.
During her visit, renowned author Paulo Coelho extended good wishes to her.
“I don't want to ask anything, but to say loud a clear THANK YOU. You are an example for children, teenagers and adults alike. May your path be blessed. #AskMalala,” the author said in his tweet.
Responding to this, Malala said that Paulo Coelho’s words has always inspired her and revealed The Alchemist as her favourite book.
“Paulo, your words have inspired me for many years. I am so often asked my favorite book and I always say The Alchemist. I’m so honored to be in your beautiful country! #AskMalala #PergunteAMalala,” Malala replied.
Meanwhile, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari said that Malala Yousafzai lit the candle of knowledge in the darkness of ignorance and boldly faced fanatics.
In his message on Wednesday regarding Malala Day, the chief minister said that Malala is an example for Pakistani students and her struggle for the promotion of education and elimination of extremist tendencies are praiseworthy. Malala Yousafzai achieved success in a young age.
She is a symbol of bravery and commitment as well as a national pride. In fact, Malala Yousafzai is the real face of a modern and tolerant Pakistan, he added.
The heartless terrorists shot at the then 15-year-old Malala for the highly ‘sinful’ act of advocating girls’ education in Swat Valley. But not only did she survive this attack, she retaliated with even more resilience and courage. This gave her global attention and she became an international figure – an activist advocating women and child rights on international forums.
Her efforts were not only recognized at home but she was applauded internationally as well. In 2013, she won the United Nations Human Rights Prize, awarded every five years. She appeared on the cover of Times magazine and was named in the magazine’s list of most influential people in 2013. Not only this, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 in recognition of her efforts to advocate children’s rights, making her the youngest Nobel Laureate. If that was not enough to bring a good name and pride to Pakistan, her book Gul Makai became an international bestseller with all eyes on her biopic Gul Makai now.
