CJP restricts private schools to collect summer vacation fees

CJP Nisar said he is thinking to ask the government to take over private schools

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 28th June, 2018) The chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) has restricted private schools to collect summer vacation fees.

CJP Mian Saqib Nisar directed that a public notice should be issued for parents. The CJP said that he is thinking to ask the government to take over private schools.

According to article 25-A of the Constituion, the state is responsible to provide education till 16 years of age. He said that the children of poor cannot study in a private school.

The CJP heard the case regarding private schools charging greater fees. The CJP also summoned attorney general during the hearing.

The counsel for private school owners, Salman Akram Raja, argued that he is representing the people collecting Rs 1500 to 3000 monthly fees. If we don’t take the two-month fee of summer vacation, we would have to close our schools.

To this, the CJP remarked that he is thinking to ask the government to nationalize private schools.

He said that if he would not have studied in a good school, he would have been a clerk. He said that education is the foundation of progress in the country, adding that he himself used to submit the summer vacation fee his father used to give him inside a book.

He said that the court can’t give a relief to the private schools without hearing out the parents.

The CJP said that the parents would have been happy for not paying summer vacation fee for the first time. They would have spent the fee on children’s recreation.
