Passengers continue to face hitches at New Islamabad International Airport

Passengers made to wait for long for luggage

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 26th June, 2018) Reports regarding mismanagement at New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) keep surfacing as passengers continue to face difficulties at the newly constructed airport.

A video of passengers of a flight coming from London went viral on social media as they lamented the airport administration and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif after losing their luggage.

The passengers said that four flights landed at NIIA but the luggage of none of the flights was brought to the airport. The passengers were bound to wait for their luggage at the airport. Not only this, the officials of airport administration were also absent to facilitate the passengers.

The pilots were also seen along with the passengers at airport. However, they refrained questioning the airport personnel.

The social media users also felt agitated after watching the video and criticized the former government.

Moreover, there were zero arrangements at NIIA as pre-monsoon rains hit the country this month.

The capital received heavy rain in June, flooding the new Islamabad airport. A passenger shared a video of the airport on social media whose roofless lounge is receiving the heavy rain shower.

The people were seen moving here and there saving their luggage while routine operations were also disrupted.

Earlier, a video of passengers waiting for their luggage at New Islamabad International Airport also went viral. Some social media users criticized the airport administration and staff for their mismanagement while the angry passengers were seen snatching the luggage belt after waiting for long.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had inaugurated New Islamabad International Airport on May 1. The construction of the airport was completed after 13 years.
