LHC acquitted main convict Shah Hussain in Khadija stabbing case

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 5th June, 2018) The Lahore High Court on Monday acquitted main convict Shah Hussain in Khadija stabbing case.

Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem passed the orders while allowing an appeal filed by the convict Shah Hussain against his sentence.

On July 29, 2017, a judicial magistrate had handed down seven years jail term to Shah Hussain, for stabbing his classmate Khadija Siddiqui. However, the convict challenged his conviction through an appeal before an additional District and Sessions judge which reduced the sentence to four years. The convict had challenged the Sessions court orders before Lahore High Court.

The LHC verdict sparked outrage on mainstream and social media. Celebrities, journalists and civil society members all came out in Khadija’s support while #JusticeforKhadija continues to trend on Twitter for the second day.

Khadija Siddiqui, a law student, was attacked by her class fellow, Shah Husain, on May 3, 2016, near Shimla Hill where she along with her driver had gone to pick her younger sister from school. Both sisters were about to get into their car when helmet wearing convict had attacked Khadija with a knife and stabbed her for 23 times, leaving her critically injured.
