The Supreme Court on Friday nullified IHC verdict disqualifying him for life.
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 1st June, 2018) Former foreign minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Khawaja Asif has thanked Allah Almighty and judiciary for ruling in his favor.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had disqualified Asif under Article 62-1(f) of the Constitution on the basis of holding an Abu Dhabi Iqama (work permit).
Asif on the other hand took a view that he concealed nothing and his Iqama was declared in the nomination paper. He had challenged the IHC decision disqualifying him in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court on Friday nullified IHC verdict disqualifying him for life. According to the SC verdict, Asif will be allowed to contest elections.
Asif took to Twitter as soon as the verdict was announced.
“God has blessed me. We cannot even count the blessings of God. I thank the judiciary. Alhamdulillah.”
