Journalist speaks up in Gen (r) Asad Durrani’s favor

Durrani did not say anything against the country in this book so we shouldn’t get too emotional: Rauf Klasra

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 29th May, 2018) Renowned journalist Rauf Klasra has come up in support of General (r) Asad Durrani.

Klasra while talking on his program has said that he also did not have a good opinion about Durrani but taking risk, I want to say that his respect has increased in my heart after reading this book.

He said that he is feeling much better about Pak-India relations, Pak-US relations and Afghanistan issue after reading this book.

“I was an illiterate before reading this book,” he added.

Klasra said that former ISI chief Gen (r) Durrani and former RAW chief A.S Dulat should be appreciated for criticizing their country’s policies in a very decent way.

“People were amazed that our establishment has always spoken of the restrained Pak-India ties and same was the situation in India. Now the intelligence agencies of both the countries have told that they used to meet in the past and hold secret meetings. This was a shocking news for Pakistanis that the intelligence chiefs used to hold secret meetings,” he said.

He said that many fatwas are issued in our country over allegations of being a traitor. But A.S Dulat has also heavily criticized Indian Prime Minister Modi over Kashmir; he has also criticized Indian policies but he was not termed a traitor in India.

After reading the book, I can say that Dulat has proved Pakistan’s perspective right over its relations with India, he further said.

The journalist said that instead of putting Durrani’s name in ECL, he should be encouraged for bringing the two countries together. He said that Durrani did not say anything against the country in this book so we do not need to get too emotional.
