Gets MQM to vote in favor of the bill
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 24th May, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi played an important role in making Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) agree to vote over 31st amendment.
The 31st amendment pertaining to FATA Reforms Bill was passed in the National Assembly today.
Addressing over his point of objection in the National Assembly, Qureshi said that this is a historic moment. We should work for the national interest above political prejudices.
He said that the MQM members have taken part in the session upon our request so they should be given a chance to speak in the House.
MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar said that a constitutional amendment is always of importance. “If all the parties do not give their opinion upon it and it would not be considered good if it is passed in the same day,” he said.
“We have had our own view over FATA. We have introduced bills to make FATA and Siraiki as separate provinces. We also recommended holding a referendum over FATA decision. Our constitution is the most difficult when it comes to the creation of provinces,” the MQM leader added.
