Fazuri Kasuri parts ways with PTI, joins PSP

Says since 2013, I have become increasingly disenchanted by the direction the party has taken

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 24th May, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fauzia Kasuri has parted ways with the party and joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) of Mustafa Kamal.

Sharing the picture of her resignation in a tweet on Wednesday, Kasuri said, “I sent this message of resignation to Imran Khan and other leaders in the party a few moments ago.”

The resignation letter read, “It should come as no surprise to you that I have decided to leave the PTI. Nevertheless, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for giving me a platform on which to develop my political career in line with the principles of justice, merit and accountability, that were previously ingrained in our party's culture.”

“However, since 2013, I have become increasingly disenchanted by the direction the party has taken and no longer see it as representative of the aspirations of the millions of underserved citizens seeking transformative change in Pakistan. Furthermore, you opted to hand the reins of the party to those electables we fought against since our inception, at the cost of workers who in some cases laid down their lives for the cause. Sadly, this was the final nail in the coffin. Moreover, since I am no longer able to defend the party's actions, I would like you to accept this letter as my formal resignation from the party,” Kasuri wrote.

She concluded, “I wish you the best of luck in the future and hope that if you are granted the opportunity to form a national government, you shall strive to bring about the change you once promised.”

The differences within PTI have increased due to various electables joining the party. PTI chairman Imran Khan had formed a committee over the matter two days ago. This committee will scan the people wishing to join PTI and they will only be included in the party if they have a strong position in their Constituencies. Therefore, people can no longer join PTI just after meeting Imran Khan and they would have to go through a scanning from the party.
