Javed Hashmi rejoining PMLN raising conflicts within party: Sources

Party leaders from Multan disappointed at party leadership

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 22nd May, 2018) Veteran politician Javed Hashmi’s recent rejoining in Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has raised many conflicts within the party.

According to a report published in a local newspaper, senior politicians in the party are causing worry in Multan because of Hashmi’s rejoining in the party. Many party leaders belonging to Multan District are disappointed and many of them have indicated contesting elections as independent candidates over top leadership’s bias towards Hashmi and awarding party tickets.

The party will bear this loss by losing the seats in South Punjab that it won in the previous elections.

According to sources, the local leadership is of the view that Hashmi has become very controversial and his statements regarding the state institutions has affected party’s popularity in the country, including South Punjab. It is not wise to include Hashmi in the party when elections are near, they said.

Sources also said that many leaders have decided to protest over it, including Sheikh Tariq Rasheed who is Multan’s general secretary and ticket holder of NA-155. Other leaders among dozens include Malik Anwar of PP-215, Akhtar Alam Qureshi, Zahid Bashir, Sheikh Nadeem Akbar who are Union Council chairmen on PMLN ticket, Youth Wing’s district president Manzoor Khosa and Tariq Amir Abbasi.
