The upcoming provincial budget is expected to exceed Rs2.7 trillion
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 17th, 2026) The Sindh Cabinet has approved the provincial budget for the financial year 2026-27, according to official sources.
The upcoming provincial budget is expected to exceed Rs2.7 trillion. The provincial government has also proposed a 7 percent increase in salaries and a 5 percent rise in pensions for government employees.
Sources said during the meeting that there had been an initial consideration to raise salaries by at least 10 percent; however, financial constraints have limited the scope for a higher increase.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the new budget has been prepared keeping in view the needs of all segments of society. He added that, on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the provincial government is implementing special measures for poverty alleviation.
