Pakistan’s power distribution companies report Rs226bn losses, mainly due to theft and poor recoveries.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June-16,2026) Pakistan’s state-owned power distribution companies (DISCOs) incurred combined losses of Rs226 billion during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, according to official sources.
The losses were recorded between July 2025 and April 2026, covering the first 10 months of the fiscal year.
Sources said the total losses were Rs66 billion lower than those recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Of the total losses, Rs169 billion resulted from inefficiencies and electricity theft, while Rs57 billion stemmed from shortcomings in bill recoveries.
