PTI Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Junaid Afzal Sahi has been sentenced to three years in prison — the shortest sentence among convicted individuals
FAISALABAD : (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 31st, 2025) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Faisalabad on Thursday sentenced several senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to 10 years in prison in a case related to the May 9 riots.
According to court proceedings, PTI leaders Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza were each handed 10-year jail terms. PTI Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Junaid Afzal Sahi was sentenced to three years in prison — the shortest sentence among the convicted individuals.
The court, however, acquitted PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi, and Khayal Castro due to lack of evidence.
The verdict was announced in a case registered at Civil Lines Police Station, involving a total of 108 accused.
The individuals were charged in connection with the violent protests and attacks on sensitive installations that occurred following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan on May 9, 2023.
The strict security arrangements were made at the court premises during the announcement of the verdict.
