ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 23rd, 2025) The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting a fresh spell of monsoon rains across the country from June 25 to July 2, as seasonal weather systems begin to intensify.
The PMD spokesperson said that monsoon currents have started penetrating the upper and central parts of the country while a westerly wave is also expected to enter northern regions on June 25. The combination of these weather systems is likely to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms.
The rain with strong winds and thunder is expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Other areas likely to be affected include Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Gujranwala.
The forecast also includes possible rainfall in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal and Sahiwal, with similar weather conditions likely to prevail.
In southern Pakistan, rain is expected in Hyderabad and Karachi from June 25 to June 28, providing much-needed relief from the ongoing hot and humid conditions.
The authorities advised citizens to remain cautious during the wet spell, especially in low-lying areas prone to urban flooding and landslides in hilly regions.
