Sindh Govt to produce film on life of Popular Humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi

Minister Sharjeel Memon says Sindh Ministry of Information, in collaboration with filmmaker Satish Anand, is working on production of film on Abdul Sattar Edhi's life

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 21st, 2025) The Sindh government on Saturday announced plans to produce a film based on the life of renowned social worker and founder of the Edhi Foundation, the late Abdul Sattar Edhi.

The announcement was made by Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon during a film festival held in Karachi. He stated that while India effectively uses cinema to promote its narrative globally, the medium does not receive the same level of importance in Pakistan.

Sharjeel Memon emphasized that Pakistan has countless historical and social stories, and by turning them into films, the country can not only highlight its culture but also introduce younger generations to national heroes.

He stressed the need to make films about national figures, especially those who have made significant contributions in various fields, saying it is a pressing need of the time.

The minister also shared that the Sindh Ministry of Information, in collaboration with filmmaker Satish Anand, is working on the production of the film on Abdul Sattar Edhi's life.

However, no further details about the project were disclosed at this stage.
