All-electric aircraft completes first passenger flight, lands successfully at JFK

Milestone flight took off from East Hampton Airport in Long Island with a pilot and four passengers, including Matt Koscal

NEW YORK: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 5th, 2025) In a major achievement for sustainable aviation, Beta Technologies' all-electric aircraft CX300 successfully completed its first passenger flight, landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) — one of the world’s busiest airports.

The milestone flight took off from East Hampton Airport in Long Island with a pilot and four passengers, including Matt Koscal, President of regional airline Republic Airways, and Rob Wiesenthal, CEO of Blade Air Mobility. The flight lasted approximately 45 minutes before the aircraft made a smooth landing at JFK, marking a significant leap forward in electric aviation.

Speaking on the occasion, Kyle Clark, founder and CEO of Beta Technologies, said, “Flying our electric aircraft into one of the busiest airports in the world with passengers on board proves that advanced air mobility isn’t a concept of the future — it’s happening now,”.

The CX300 aircraft is powered entirely by electricity. It takes just one hour to fully charge and can travel up to 622 kilometers (386 miles) on a single charge, making it a viable and eco-friendly option for regional air travel.

Originally manufactured in November 2024 in Burlington, Canada, the aircraft completed its first test flight — a round trip from Burlington — on November 13, 2024, lasting 1 hour and 1 minute.

A second test flight followed on January 10, 2025, from Burlington to Plattsburgh, New York, which took 1 hour and 6 minutes.

Since then, the CX300 has undergone rigorous testing with over 180 flights between various cities including Manchester, New York, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Alexandria and Rome among others.

However, the flight completed on June 4, 2025, was the first official flight with passengers, making it a historic moment for the company and for the future of green aviation.
