LHC summons CCPO Lahore on Khadija Shah’s contempt plea

The judge has directed the Capital City Police Officer to appear before the court on October 27.

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Oct 25th, 2023) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday summoned the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Lahore to explain his position in a case related to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Khadija Shah.

Justice Ali Baqir Najfi passed the orders on a plea moved by Khadija Shah—who is also a prominent figure in the fashion industry. She made the police officers involved in her arrest related to an incident that occurred on May 9 as respondents.

Justice Najfi directed the CCPO to appear before it on October 27, emphasizing the gravity of the matter. In the written order, the judge expressed dissatisfaction with the response provided by the CCPO Lahore through the state counsel.

Khadija Shah was granted bail by the Lahore High Court but she could not come out of jail as the police arrested her in another case. She was booked in May 9 riots case and other cases.
