WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th March, 2023) President Joe Biden criticized US House Republicans for their role in enabling a segment on Fox news in which journalist Tucker Carlson presented new footage of the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and said he hopes they are ashamed for the way Carlson depicted law enforcement.
"I hope House Republicans feel ashamed for what was done to undermine our law enforcement," Biden said via Twitter on Wednesday.
The segment, which aired on Monday, included a condensed version of some 40,000 hours of unseen video footage, challenged as false the prevailing narrative that the protest by the supporters of former President Donald Trump was an insurrection. The footage has allegedly been provided to Carlson by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
Biden's tweet comes in response to a letter sent by the US Capitol Police chief addressing the allegations made by Carlson in the segment, which showed USCP officers as guiding and standing alongside the protesters inside the Capitol on January 6.
Biden reiterated his alignment with and support for the Capitol Police.
