AlUla, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 16 يوليو 2026ء) The origins of AlUla's Old Town date back to the 12th century, when residents settled near AlUla Oasis along the caravan routes linking the southern Arabian Peninsula with the Levant.
The town features more than 900 mud-brick houses established around seven centuries ago. It later became a major stop along the Syrian Hajj route, gaining significant economic and social importance as a center for trade and a welcoming point for pilgrims and travelers over successive generations.
Throughout its history, AlUla's Old Town was visited by numerous travelers who documented their observations of AlUla, benefiting from its strategic location along historic trade and pilgrimage routes. Today, it continues to welcome visitors to the governorate, remaining, as it has throughout history, the gateway to AlUla and the starting point for many visitors exploring the region.
