AlUla, June (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 24 يونيو 2026ء) The competition, launched by Arts AlUla, the arts and culture arm of the Royal Commission for AlUla, attracted entries from Saudi citizens and residents who were invited to submit original musical pieces lasting 30 to 60 seconds. The submissions were evaluated by a specialized jury, with finalists advancing to the concluding stage hosted in AlUla ahead of the winners’ announcement at a closing ceremony.
The competition also features prizes for the winning entries, recognizing participants' creativity and supporting promising musical talent.
Participants were required to create entirely new compositions specifically for AlUla rather than adapting or drawing on existing works, to capture the spirit of the destination and reflect its rich cultural identity.
The winning compositions will be incorporated into the Musical Road project at AlUla's entrance and used across a number of cultural sites and visitor experiences in the region. The initiative aims to strengthen the presence of Saudi musical identity while offering visitors an audio experience inspired by the Kingdom's culture, drawing on its authentic artistic traditions and reflecting its distinctive cultural and heritage identity.
The competition seeks to discover and support a new generation of musical talent in Saudi Arabia by providing participants with an opportunity to present their work before a professional judging panel and join the AlUla Music Hub community. The hub connects Saudi creators with Arts AlUla’s ecosystem, including the AlJadidah Arts District, which combines cultural authenticity with contemporary creativity. The final stage also provided participants with the opportunity to meet with the judging panel before the winners were announced.
Director of Arts and Creative Industries at the Royal Commission for AlUla Hamad Alhomiedan said AlUla’s ambition extends beyond enriching the cultural landscape to creating a comprehensive visitor experience that leaves a lasting impression.
He said the Musical Road project is designed to form part of the arrival experience in AlUla, creating an immediate sense of connection between visitors and the destination.
Inviting citizens and residents to contribute to composing this work places the community at the center of the cultural experience and helps convey its impact to AlUla’s visitors from around the world across generations, Alhomiedan added.
The initiative is part of Arts AlUla’s efforts to support creativity, nurture talent, and strengthen AlUla’s position as a global destination for arts and culture.
