More Than 40 Arabian Sand Gazelle Births at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Reinforce Wildlife Recovery Indicators

Rafha, June (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 09 يونيو 2026ء) The authority stated that the births were documented through continuous field monitoring conducted by specialized teams. It noted that the high rate of natural reproduction among Arabian sand gazelle reflects the quality and suitability of the reserve’s habitats, as well as the success of protection and habitat management programs and the provision of environmental conditions conducive to the species' stability and reproduction.

The authority explained that the reproduction of wildlife species in their natural habitats is among the most significant indicators of the success of breeding and reintroduction programs. Such progress demonstrates a transition from dependence on managed breeding and care programs to self-sustaining reproduction in the wild, confirming the establishment of conditions necessary for ecological stability and population growth.

The Arabian sand gazelle is one of the most prominent environmental symbols of the Arabian Peninsula. Its population declined over the past decades due to overhunting and environmental changes, prompting the implementation of specialized conservation and reintroduction programs to preserve the species and strengthen its presence in its native habitat.

Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve is the Kingdom’s second-largest terrestrial nature reserve, covering more than 91,500 square kilometers in northeastern Saudi Arabia. Its boundaries extend across five administrative regions: Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim, and Eastern Region. The reserve is distinguished by its diverse natural habitats, varied topography, and unique geographical formations, making it a suitable environment for a wide range of wildlife and plant species.
