New York, September (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 26 سبتمبر 2025ء) Albudaiwi's remarks came during his participation in the UNRWA's high-level meeting, yesterday on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
He stressed the commitment of the GCC member states to continue standing by and supporting UNRWA at all levels, affirming that this support stems from the firm position of the GCC in backing the Palestinian people and their right to a dignified life, until a just and comprehensive solution to their cause is reached and their suffering is ended.
He added that the council joins its voice with that of the United Nations in calling for the intensification of efforts by the international community and its institutions to provide all forms of support to the agency so that it can continue its noble humanitarian role in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Albudaiwi pointed out that the vital role of UNRWA is becoming increasingly important in light of the extremely difficult humanitarian conditions that the Palestinians are experiencing, especially in the Gaza Strip, which is witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe that requires a redoubling of efforts to provide urgent humanitarian and medical aid. He noted that the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has led to the destruction of infrastructure, schools, and hospitals, which has made hundreds of thousands of Palestinians primarily dependent on UNRWA's services as a lifeline.
He also underlined that the suffering of the Palestinian camps in the West Bank is also worsening due to the escalation and daily violations.
The secretary-general concluded his speech by affirming that the GCC is proceeding with its commitment to UNRWA's role, calling on the international community to redouble its efforts and contributions to support this vital UN organization.
