The Kingdom Concludes Participation in the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

New York, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 28 يوليو 2025ء) The Kingdom’s delegation was led by Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim and included representatives from nine government entities: the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Saudi Fund for Development, Al Madinah Region Development Authority, the National Center for Wildlife, and the Quality of Life Program.

“In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Vision 2030 represents a national transformation project, inspired by the ambition of our wise leadership and the aspirations of the people. As a result, the Kingdom has become the fastest-improving G20 country across sustainable development indicators over the past decade. This progress demonstrates that meaningful impact is achieved when ambition is paired with structured action, driven by strong will, and underpinned by effective policies.”

He highlighted the pioneering local efforts arising from national sustainable development plans, saying:

“Al Madinah Region Development Authority has launched the 'Atlas of Sustainable Development in Al Madinah Neighborhoods' for all its seventy neighborhoods, a pioneering step that provided in-depth data and enabled the simulation of scientific scenarios and more accurate and impactful policy-making.”

Saudi Arabia was specifically chosen by the UN-Water Commission as a country demonstrating clear and tangible strides in the SDG 6 Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Index. As part of this achievement, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture shared the Kingdom’s significant advancements and lessons learned in enhancing water security and sustainability on the sidelines of the forum. They focused on the Action Plan for Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) and highlighted its rapid progress in integrated water resources management.

The Ministry of Economy and Planning, in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Quality of Life Program, and Al Madinah Region Development Authority, also organized a side event that focused on the importance of integration between government sectors, based on wise policies, institutional capabilities, and an advanced innovation system, to accelerate progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Saudi Fund for Development participated through a pavilion that highlighted its contributions to global sustainable development and its efforts to finance development projects and programs in key sectors such as health, education, energy, infrastructure, industry, mining, and others.

On the sidelines of the forum, Alibrahim also held several meetings with high-level officials to explore areas of mutual collaboration and discuss strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations and expanding investment opportunities.

The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development has convened annually under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2012.
