Madinah, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 18 يوليو 2025ء) The event, titled "Act Local, Accelerate Global: Advancing Inclusive, Science- and Evidence-based Solutions for SDG Localization in the Arab Region," was held as part of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2025. It highlighted the need for inclusive, data-driven approaches to effectively localize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ensure that no one is left behind.
In his opening remarks, Albulihshi underscored that cities are responsible for implementing 65% of the SDGs. He pointed out that the availability and quality of urban data remain significant challenges and stressed the importance of global frameworks in guiding sustainable local development.
Al Madinah Region Development Authority showcased its Atlas of Sustainable Development for Madinah and its neighborhoods, alongside a report detailing the city's resilience in building a risk-resilient future. These initiatives, it was noted, play a vital role in supporting sustainable development decision-making, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
The forum also included engaging dialogue sessions that explored global frameworks for guiding sustainable and resilient local urban development, as well as strategies for creating value for cities through data-driven trends.
Organized by Al Madinah Region Development Authority, the event involved collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), United Cities and Local Governments middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and the World Council on City Data.
