Makkah, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 01 سبتمبر 2025ء) The summit's final communiqué emphasized that this tragedy, which has shaken the global conscience, was made possible by the absence of effective international law and the lack of accountability mechanisms.
The summit, themed “The Role of Religious Leaders in Resolving Conflicts,” was held in Kuala Lumpur under the auspices of the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office, in cooperation with the Muslim World League (MWL). It was inaugurated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and attended by MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, along with 400 prominent religious leaders from around the world.
In their statement, participants called on the international community to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, end their suffering, and support the establishment of an independent state in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
The summit also expressed support for the final document of the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. The ministerial-level conference, sponsored and chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in partnership with France, was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Religious leaders pledged to mobilize their spiritual and social influence to generate political and diplomatic backing for the initiative in their respective countries and regions.
The final communiqué further endorsed the contents of two landmark documents issued by the MWL: the Charter of Makkah and the Charter of Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects. Both were adopted by consensus of Muslim scholars in Makkah under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
