OIC: Urgent Action Needed as Gaza Famine is Declared a War Crime

Jeddah, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 25 أغسطس 2025ء) The OIC held Israel fully responsible for the famine and its consequences, citing it as a direct result of policies of starvation, illegal blockade, systematic destruction, and obstruction of humanitarian aid access, all of which were classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

It emphasized that the declaration of famine serves as a global alert, signaling the presence of a grave humanitarian, political, and legal crisis that demands urgent international intervention. It called for the immediate activation of all international emergency mechanisms to guarantee the safe, unimpeded delivery of humanitarian and food aid to civilians trapped in the Gaza Strip.

The OIC urged the global community to uphold its legal, political, and moral obligations by taking effective actions, including imposing sanctions on Israel, the occupying power; halting the supply or transfer of arms to it; supporting international justice mechanisms to ensure accountability for its crimes while adhering to international humanitarian law.

It has also reiterated its call for the international community to pressure Israel to immediately cease all forms of aggression and its blockade of the Gaza Strip. This includes opening all border crossings, ensuring a continuous and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid, and enabling the operations of the United Nations agencies, particularly UNRWA, and all international humanitarian organizations to operate without obstruction to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the Gaza Strip.
