Al-Masmak Palace Hosts ‘Two Swords and a Palm’ Exhibition Showcasing the Journey of the National Emblem

Riyadh, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 24 أغسطس 2025ء) The exhibition runs until November 21, 2025, offering visitors a comprehensive journey tracing the evolution of the national emblem from 1932 to its current form, in a framework that blends authenticity with modernity.

Al-Masmak Palace Museum was chosen to host the exhibition for its exceptional symbolism in Saudi history, as it is associated with the recapture of Riyadh in 1902 by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, a pivotal moment in the unification of the Kingdom.

The palace stands in the heart of the capital as a witness to the nation’s early beginnings, preserving within its walls the features of that era. In recent decades, it has been transformed into a national museum welcoming visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom, showcasing through its halls and collections the story of the founding of modern Saudi Arabia.

The exhibition is based on extensive research carried out in cooperation with experts and specialists in history and design, offering an in-depth reading of the national emblem — not merely as a visual element adorning official documents, but as a deeply rooted symbol in the collective consciousness that reflects national identity and Saudi cultural heritage.

The exhibition features a selection of original documents, rare archival pieces, and artistic and design works showcasing the transformations the emblem has undergone over the decades.

The exhibition’s interactive experience includes visual displays and animated films that allow visitors to explore the evolution of the national emblem and appreciate its renewed aesthetics, reflecting its ability to adapt to social and cultural transformations while maintaining its presence as a unifying icon representing the Kingdom’s values and unity.

The Museums Commission affirmed that organizing the exhibition is part of its efforts to preserve cultural heritage and raise public awareness of the importance of national identity.

The commission also noted that the national emblem, with its symbolism of the two swords and the palm, is not merely a fixed visual form but a living record that reflects the Kingdom’s journey and aspirations across generations.

The exhibition aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to highlight national heritage and enhance its role in the present and future by transforming major historical sites, such as Al-Masmak Palace, into vibrant cultural spaces that attract visitors and enrich their knowledge.

The program of the exhibition also includes workshops and activities tailored to different age groups, aimed at connecting generations with their history and national emblem, and deepening their understanding of its value and place in Saudi memory.
