OIC Reaffirms Centrality Of Jerusalem In Conscience Of Islamic Nation

Jeddah, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 22 أغسطس 2025ء) The statement was issued on the 56th anniversary of the heinous attempt to set fire to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla (prayer direction) and the third holiest site in islam, at a time when violations, assaults, and repeated crimes by extremist Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli occupation forces continue against the blessed mosque.

The OIC warned of increasing calls to partition the mosque and establish the so-called temple, alongside intensified Israeli policies of Judaization and ethnic cleansing against the occupied city of Jerusalem, its people, and its sanctities, in blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The OIC stressed that Israel, the occupying power, bears full responsibility for the safety of all holy sites under its illegal occupation, noting that international treaties and agreements, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, prohibit the occupying power from assaulting places of worship, guarantee freedom of access to them, and ban altering geographic or demographic features or encroaching on historic sites.

The organization reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Holy City) in the hearts of Muslims, reiterating its firm support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to end the occupation and establish their independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The OIC also renewed its pledge to continue political, diplomatic, and legal efforts to safeguard Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend its Islamic and historical identity against attempts at Judaization and partition.
