Abha, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 18 أغسطس 2025ء) Al-Qazoou'i originated as a war dance, traditionally performed without instrumental accompaniment. Its rhythm is driven by the powerful interplay of voices and synchronized footfalls. Performers form two opposing rows, while one or more poets stand at the center, leading the performance.
The performance is distinguished by the interaction between the poets and performers. The poet begins by reciting the opening lines of a verse to one row, then swiftly moves to the opposite row to deliver the same lines, followed by a powerful, unified repetition from all participants.
The dance has transcended its origins as a traditional folk performance, becoming a powerful collective symbol of unity. It echoes a spirit of heroism and pride, standing as a cornerstone of Aseer’s cultural identity and a vivid testament to the Kingdom’s rich heritage.
