PARIS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers on Sunday at the monument in memory of Russian Expeditionary Force in France that took part in World War I, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

Putin arrived at the ceremony following Armistice Day celebrations at Arc de Triumph marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Many descendants of the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Force attended the ceremony.

"I'm glad to see you all here and I want to express hope that the memory of your relatives and our soldiers will be preserved in Russia," Putin said.

The ceremony's attendees have presented to Putin a book called "Patriotism without borders."

The monument was opened by Putin in 2011. It is located in the historic center of Paris near the Pont Alexandre III and the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysees.
