US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley to Resign At End of Year - Trump

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th October, 2018) US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley plans to resign at the end of the year.

"So at the end of the year, Nikki will be leaving and we'll be in constant touch, I know that," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office while meeting with Haley.

Trump added that he hopes Haley might come back to the administration at some point, and said she could have a different role.

Haley thanked the president for allowing her the "honor of a lifetime" to serve as UN ambassador.

Haley said she did not know what she would do next in her career, but added that she would campaign for Trump ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump said a number of people were interested in replacing Haley, adding that he hopes to name a successor within the next two to three weeks.
