Tania Aidrus resigns as SAPM on Digital Pakistan

Tania Aidrus says she has resigned in the larger public interest and vowed to continue to serve the country and the and the PM’s vision to my best ability.

ISLAMABAD:(UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 29th, 2020) Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Digital Pakistan Tania Aidrus has resigned from the post over dual nationality.

Taking to Twitter, she announced her resignation saying that “Criticism levied towards the state as a consequence of my citizenship status is clouding the purpose of Digital Pakistan. In the greater public interest, I have submitted my resignation from the SAPM role. I will continue to serve my country and the PM’s vision to my best ability,”.

In her resignation, she had written: “I returned to Pakistan with the singular intent to contribute and develop the vision of a Digital Pakistan, a concept which you have always voiced and I share,”.

She also said: “Recent discourse in the public sphere about her Canadian citizenship, which is a consequence of her birth and not an acquisition of choice, is a distraction to her ability to execute on the long term vision for a Digital Pakistan,”.

However, she reiterated her resolve to serve Pakistan and the PM’s vision to the best of her ability through initiatives both in private and public domain.
