ERC Launches Largest Fishing Centre In Yemen’s Red Sea Coast

MOCHA, (Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jan, 2020) The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, yesterday launched the largest fishing centre in Yemen’s Red Sea Coast.

The centre, which is equipped with a comprehensive solar energy system, comprises a large area for selling fish, 12 storage rooms for fishing equipment, an administrative facility with eight rooms, a meeting room, two rooms for electricity generators, a mosque, three guardrooms, two main gates, and the fishermen’s association headquarters with four rooms.

The ERC launched the project as part of its continuous support for the Red Sea Coast since its liberation, from Bab Al Mandab in the southwest to Nekheila in the northwest, to help ensure stability and economic development.

Local fishermen expressed their happiness at the launch of the project, which will help them return to work and earn a living.

Abdullah Al Hubaishi, ERC Representative in the Red Sea Coast, said that the project will benefit 3,000 fishermen in Al Faza and neighbouring areas, noting that the project is the 34th implemented by the ERC in the Red Sea Coast.

The ERC has established and restored 24 fishing centres and distributed 500 fishing equipment boxes, benefitting 24,000 fishermen from 50 villages.
