The Crimean parliament voted on Friday to re-elect Sergey Aksyonov as head of Russia's southern republic for another five-year term
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) The Crimean parliament voted on Friday to re-elect Sergey Aksyonov as head of Russia's southern republic for another five-year term.
On September 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered up three candidates for the post Aksyonov, the acting head of the republic; Pavel Shperov, a member of the Russian parliament's lower house and Sergey Bogatirenko, head of Russia's Communist Party's local division.
"[The parliament votes] to elect Sergey Aksyonov to the post of head of the Republic of Crimea for a term of five years," the parliament said.
Aksyonov was elected to the post on October 9, 2014. He is currently also the republic's prime minister.
