MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2019) Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said at a briefing on Thursday that the upcoming week-long visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States would feature meetings with world leaders, the business community and the Indian diaspora, as well as multilateral talks within the UN framework.Modi will arrive in the United States late afternoon in the city of Houston on September 21 and will depart on September 27 from New York, after delivering his speech in the United Nations.
"The visit has three main pillars to it. First, the multilateral engagements at the United Nations. Second, the bilateral component of the visit in the United States covering political meetings, interaction with the business community and with the Indian diaspora. And thirdly, the bilateral meetings that he will have with world leaders in New York," Gokhale said.
The prime minister will also host an event "Leadership Matters: Relevance of Gandhi in the Contemporary World" on September 24 on the occasion of the upcoming 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth in early October, Gokhale added.
The White House announced earlier in the week that US President Donald would meet with Modi at the "Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures" event in Houston on Sunday.
