Kazakh Energy Minister Confirms Kashagan's Oil Output Reaches 400,000 Barrels Per Day

ALMATY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th June, 2019) The oil output at Kazakhstan's Kashagan field reached an all-time high of 400,000 barrels per day, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said.

Last week, Reuters news outlet said that this record-level oil output had been reached, citing unnamed sources in the industry.

"The daily oil output of the Kashagan oil field is at a record level 400,000 barrels per day," Bozumbayev said during a governmental meeting.

The energy minister added that the output had risen after Kazakhstan completed maintenance on the oilfield in May.

Kashagan is one of the world's largest offshore oil fields, with reserves of up to 13 billion barrels of recoverable oil, according to the oil field's operator, North Caspian Operating Company. In March, Bozumbayev said that the output levels were at 300,000 barrels per day.
