Retirement age of govt employees to be extended by 3 years

The retirement age of government employees can be extended from 60 to 63 years.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 10th June, 2019) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has finalized the proposal to extend the retirement age of government employees from 60 to 63 years.

The retirement age is likely to be extended by 3 years after consultations among the finance ministry and the four provincial governments.

The four provincial governments have been informed that following implementation of 18th amendment the powers pertaining to such matters have been delegated to the provinces.

The provincial government has to pay additional millions of rupees every year on account of payment of pension.

Sources in finance department said that approval for increasing retirement age of government employees from 60 to 63 years will be obtained from provincial cabinet during its next meeting. This proposal will be presented in provincial cabinet meeting. After the approval from provincial cabinet a summary will be sent to provincial government. This will be implemented all over the province with the approval of chief minister KP.

Sources said this will be implemented on the occasion of budget for the next fiscal year.

Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Federal governments are also considering this proposal.
