Russia's Gazprom, Japan's JBIC Discuss Possibilities to Increase Cooperation - Statement

ST. PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th June, 2019) Russia's Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) governor Tadashi Maeda discussed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum the possibility for expanding bilateral cooperation, Gazprom said Saturday in a statement.

"The sides discussed the successful experience of joint work and evaluated possibilities for expanding cooperation," the statement reads.

JBIC took part in financing Gazprom's Blue Stream gas pipeline and Sakhalin 2 LNG plant project. In 2018, the Russian gas giant issued bonds worth of 65 billion Yen guaranteed by JBIC to place them with Japan's investors thus becoming the first Russian company that entered the Japanese capital market.

SPIEF is an annual Russian business event held in St. Petersburg since 1997. This year, the forum is taking place from June 6-8. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is an official media partner of the forum.
