Russia's Inflation Slightly Accelerated In Early 2019, Now Showing Downward Trend - Putin

ST. PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th June, 2019) Russia's inflation slightly increased at the beginning of 2019 but is now showing a trend toward a decline, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

"At the beginning of this year, [inflation] has slightly increased, but now there is a tendency toward a decline," Putin said at a meeting with investors at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The president stressed, citing the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, that, between May 28 and June 3, the weekly inflation was 0.1 percent.

Putin added that last year Russia's inflation amounted to 4.3 percent, describing it as a good result for the country's economy.

SPIEF began on Thursday and will run through Saturday. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is an official media partner of the forum.
