The number of people injured in a series of blasts and a fire at the Kristall plant in the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk has increased to 116, a representative of the regional emergency services told Sputnik on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd June, 2019) The number of people injured in a series of blasts and a fire at the Kristall plant in the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk has increased to 116, a representative of the regional emergency services told Sputnik on Monday.

"As of 6 a.m. of Monday [03:00 GMT], 116 people have been injured, including one child," the representative said.

The representative added that 17 people remained in medical centers, and one of them was in a serious condition.

Three explosions and a fire occurred at Kristall plant's trinitrotoluene production workshop on Saturday.

The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on violation of safety regulations at explosive facilities after the incident.
