NEW YORK, (Pakistan Point News - 02nd Jun, 2019) The Sharjah Book Authority, SBA, met American and international publishers at BookExpo America to highlight the diverse investment opportunities in the publishing sector in Sharjah, and the incentives and facilities available in the UAE.
The authority, the only Arab representative at the North American event, reviewed Sharjah’s year-long Calendar of cultural events, which provides a window for building cultural and investment relationships between publishers from around the world, as well as a platform for acquiring publishing, translation and distribution rights.
"The SBA is on a continuous mission to strengthen the presence of Sharjah at various international cultural exhibitions and conferences. This reflects the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which focuses on the development of individuals through acquiring knowledge, in addition to nurturing cultural exchanges with civilisations around the world," said Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the SBA.
BookExpo America, which recently concluded in New York, provided a focused professional environment to discover emerging authors and engage with the world’s most influential publishers and learn from industry leaders. It is the largest annual book fair in the United States, bringing together authors, booksellers, librarians and book retailers.
Established in December 2014, SBA is dedicated to encouraging investment in the creative industries and offers a platform for knowledge and intellectual exchange between people from different civilisations and cultures.
