Three explosions hit the Kristall plant's trinitrotoluene production workshop earlier on Saturday. A fire subsequently broke out at the facility. According to the Russian Health Ministry, 79 people sought medical assistance after the accident, 15 of them were hospitalized, including one in serious condition.

"The fire at Kristall plant has been extinguished," the emergency operations center said.

According to the regional emergency ministry, the explosions occurred at the polymer workshop. As a result of the explosion, five buildings were damaged, including three warehouses and two workshops on an area of 800 square meters (8,600 square feet). In addition, the fire spread beyond the plant's perimeter.
