UAE launches 'Suqia Campaign' in Yemen

HADRAMAUT, (Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2019) The UAE, represented by its humanitarian arm, the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, today launched the "Suqia Campaign" in Yemen.

The campaign is part of a wider programme organised by UAE Water Aid, Suqia, which aims to deliver water to people living in remote areas of Hadramaut Governorate who are suffering from drought, and a lack of clean drinking water.

Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, ERC Representative in Hadramaut, said that the campaign is part of a series of humanitarian and service projects launched by the UAE through the ERC, which are in line with the initiatives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to complete the humanitarian goals of the Year of Tolerance.

Al Shamsi explained that the campaign aims to support Yemeni families and ease their suffering by distributing 40,000 water containers to people living in remote areas of both Hadramaut and Shabwa governorates.

The campaign’s beneficiaries thanked the UAE and the ERC for supporting them during their time of hardship, in light of the suffering caused by the ongoing drought.
