WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th May, 2019) US National Security Adviser John Bolton said on Wednesday that he met with senior officials in Abu Dhabi including Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan to discuss regional security issues."Glad to be in Abu Dhabi today where I met with Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss our strategic partnership and regional challenges," Bolton said via Twitter.
Bolton arrived to the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday for talks with senior officials on security.
The consultations come amid soaring tensions in the region due to the escalating standoff between Washington and Tehran.
According to Bolton, the consultations are focused on a possible response to Iran's actions and to the activity of regional groups controlled by Tehran.
The United States has in recent weeks stepped up its military forces in the region in what Bolton has called "a clear and unmistakable message" to Iran. The new US deployments in the Middle East include a carrier strike group, Patriot missiles, B-52 bombers and F-15 fighters.
