MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th May, 2019) At least 14 militants of the Islamic State terror group (IS, banned in Russia) were killed Wednesday in a military operation in Iraq's northern Nineveh province, security forces said in a statement.
"Fourteen terrorists were liquidated, including suicide bombers and commanders ... The operation targeted the IS headquarters in Hatra district southwest of Mosul," the statement on Facebook read.
The militant group captured large swaths of land in Iraq and Syria in 2014. Iraq declared victory over the IS in December 2017 but has since blamed continued violence on sleeper cells.
