Indian Army Detects 16 New Terrorist Camps In Pakistani Part Of Kashmir - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th May, 2019) Indian intelligence services have been informed that 16 newly emerged terrorist training camps in the Pakistan-controlled part of Kashmir are preparing to advance into Indian territory but confirmed they are prepared to respond to this threat, local media reported Wednesday.

"There are 16 terrorist training camps which have been activated in the last few months as per the reports received from intelligence agencies. More camps are in the process of being activated for the infiltration season," army sources told the Economic Times news outlet.

According to the media, terrorist groups with links to the Islamic State terrorist organization (banned in Russia) have attempted a propaganda campaign in the Kashmir Valley but failed to receive any support from the local population. The Indian army and intelligence services are closely monitoring the groups' activities and are prepared to counter any infiltration attempt, the sources added.

On Friday, Indian security forces killed Zakir Musa, the leader of a militant group linked to al-Qaeda (terrorist organization banned in Russia) behind a series of attacks in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Musa, whose real name is Zakir Rashid Bhat, was one of the most wanted and dangerous terrorists in India.

The Kashmir region has long been a hotbed of tensions on the Indian-Pakistani border because of conflicting sovereignty claims. The situation escalated in February after the Indian Air Force carried out airstrikes against what it claimed to be a camp belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group, based in the Pakistani side of Kashmir, in retaliation for an attack on an Indian paramilitary convoy earlier that month.
